If virtual audio cables are the only option then so be it, but I have been told a peer is streaming their DJ sets using OBS installed on a mac without virtual audio splitting so I am just wondering how it is possible - nowhere I look on the internet can I find someone streaming on a mac without virtual audio cables. It means that iShowU Audio Capture needs support from an audio recorder to grab audio files. Select iShowU Audio Capture as the input device: Rename the input as required. The easiest way is to open iShowU HD and simply enable the 'Applications' audio recording option in the toolbar. Set the Output device to iShowU Audio Capture: Launch Live, then open Preferences Audio. iShowU Audio Capture is a virtual MIC while Soundflower is a virtual audio grabber. Open your Mac's System Preferences Sound. Soundflower Both Soundflower and iShowU Audio Capture are audio recorder extensions for macOS. Again, this is easy in windows, have already tested this, but using a mac as the DJ (streaming to OBS on a windows machine) its a nightmare. Which is the choice, iShowU Audio Recorder V.S. In addition im wanting the OBS to be in a different location to the DJ streaming - the DJ will have to stream over the internet using obs.ninja. Virtual audio cables just add an extra layer of complexity to an already complicated sound set up (mixer, soundcard, etc). When you turn on Record Application audio Soundflower switches the output from your Speakers to itself and then channels the audio to your speakers if youve got monitor audio turned on. However this is not possible from what I can see in mac without using virtual audio cables. I see the advantage over soundflower, that its not a kernel extension, and that its actively developed. Then change the output of your Mac to that Multi Output Device instead of iShowU. In windows this is very easy, you just choose the audio output you want and it captures it. Look into creating a Multi Output Device that consist of IShowU and your built in output, this is something that is common when using Soundflower / Blackhole and I assume iShowU works the same way as those two. Im actually using an external soundcard - its a DJ so I dont actually want to capture desktop audio but I want the output from the external soundcard to be streamed.
